New Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, priced from $54,200 to $65,000 (a loaded convertible), can be proud of having such powerful competitors as Porsche Cayman R, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Nissan GT-R. Not for nothing, as the recent car owns a 5.8-liter supercharged V-8 powertrain, with 662 hp, or 631 lb-ft, a 6-speed manual and RWD. Speaking of EPA Fuel Economy, it is ranged 15/24 (city/hwy).
What’s so new? In fact, all new Mustangs have got the 2013 exterior freshening up, but Shelby GT500 also gets a powerful 5.8-liter supercharged V-8 plus much aerodynamic tweaking, which send this car to a top speed of 202 mph, according to Ford. Frankly speaking, the GT500 is loaded with unexpected go-fast tricks and tweaks, despite its price. These are a carbon-fiber driveshaft, as well as optional oil, transmission and differential coolers. As for the driving character, Shelby’s 662-hp powerhouse is really forgiving and stunningly competent on the racetrack. Due to its heavy-duty Tremec 6-speed manual and light clutch effort, GT500 is more than well-prepared for the daily commute either in-city or off-city. Certainly, Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 would be happier running on twisty back roads rather than sitting in traffic. Perhaps, that is why the car is equipped with the 20-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 radials which are quiet and versatile (Supercar G:2). Also, fade-resistant and excellent Brembo brakes, along with inside leather Recaro buckets can add class to real driving.
