The priciest 2024 Ford Mustang has a cost of $80,000

With the opening of order banks, an online configurator for the 2024 Ford Mustang is now available, allowing us to explore the highest possible price for the top-of-the-line model with all the extras. Although the starting price for the most recent Shelby GT500 is less than $79,515, this is the price for the most expensive model of the new Mustang. Even though it doesn't come with a supercharged V8, it is still the most powerful non-Shelby Mustang Ford has ever produced. The Dark Horse variant uses a modified version of the 5.0-liter V8 from the Mustang GT, delivering 500 horsepower without any forced induction, along with 418 pound-feet of torque. The Dark Horse Premium model, which starts at $63,160, is used as the base for finding the most expensive price.

This Mustang is well-equipped even without any additional features, as it comes with Ford's Co-Pilot 360 driver assist system, a B&O 12-speaker stereo, voice-activated touchscreen navigation, a heated steering wheel, climate-controlled seats with memory settings, active exhaust, and various trim and appearance packages that offer features such as graphics, spoilers, and painted Brembo brake calipers. However, the question remains as to how the total cost of over $16,000 in options is reached.

The option upgrades for the Mustang begin with painted racing stripes, which are priced at a significant $5,495, making up nearly half of the total upgrade cost alone. If you add the Dark Horse Handling Package for $4,500 and the 10-speed automatic transmission, which costs $1,595, the price of the options is almost fully covered. Interestingly, even at this level, the standard seats are made of cloth, but leather-trimmed Recaro seats can be added for an additional $1,650. However, choosing these seats means losing the previously mentioned climate control and memory functionality. Therefore, if you desire sporty seats for your sporty Mustang, your comfort will be affected by the temperature, depending on your location.

Apart from the major options, the additional upgrades for the Mustang are relatively minor items such as an outdoor car cover priced at $600, a large cargo organizer costing $105 (with a slightly cheaper option for a smaller size), premium floor mats, a first-aid kit, and other small items. The total cost adds up to $79,515, which is around $2,000 more than the starting price of a 2022 base-model Shelby GT500. The 2024 Ford Mustang, including the Dark Horse models, is expected to arrive at dealerships later this year.
