Ford introduced several updates and performance improvements for the 2013 Mustang lineup, but many buyers also noticed higher prices on several key models. While some V6 versions retained their previous pricing, performance-focused Mustang GT and Boss 302 models saw noticeable increases for the new model year.
The good news for entry-level buyers was that the base Mustang V6 coupe continued to start at $22,995, while the premium V6 coupe remained priced at $26,995. Convertible V6 models also carried over their existing prices, with the standard convertible beginning at $27,995 and the premium version starting at $31,995.
Performance models, however, became more expensive for 2013. The standard Mustang GT coupe received a price increase of $1,100, bringing its starting MSRP to $31,095. Premium GT coupe models saw a smaller increase, rising by only $200 to $35,095.
Convertible GT models also moved higher in price. The base Mustang GT convertible climbed from $34,995 to $36,095, while the premium GT convertible increased to $40,095.
The biggest price jump came with the track-focused Boss 302 lineup. Both the standard Boss 302 and the Laguna Seca edition gained an additional $2,000 over the previous year. The 2013 Boss 302 started at $42,995, while the Laguna Seca package pushed pricing close to the $50,000 mark.
Ford also expanded the availability of several performance-oriented options for 2013. Recaro sport seats, previously limited to select models like the Boss 302, became available across more of the Mustang lineup. Buyers could also add the new GT Track Package, which included upgraded cooling components, enhanced brakes, performance suspension upgrades, and a Torsen limited-slip differential for improved handling capability.
Although Ford kept entry-level Mustang pricing stable, the increases on GT and Boss models raised questions among enthusiasts. With strong competition from the Chevrolet Camaro and rumors of a fully redesigned Mustang arriving soon, some industry observers were surprised to see Ford raising prices rather than aggressively targeting higher sales volume.
Even with the higher prices, the 2013 Mustang lineup continued to offer strong performance value, especially with upgraded technology, improved styling, and additional horsepower across several models.
