When Need for Speed hit theaters in 2014, it became one of the few true car-focused films of its time, even if critics weren’t impressed. Starring Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad, the movie featured plenty of high-speed Mustang action—and for those intense chase scenes, the production needed a dedicated camera car capable of keeping up.
That’s where this heavily modified 2013 Ford Mustang GT comes in, a machine originally built by Saleen and now listed for sale on eBay Motors. Finished in matte black with a rear-mounted glass and metal camera rig, the car was purpose-built for filming fast-paced driving sequences. It reportedly began life as a Kona Blue 6-speed Mustang GT before being transformed into its current aggressive, stealth-style appearance.
According to the listing, the car shows just 7,791 miles, though much of the interior has been stripped and reworked to accommodate professional filming equipment.
Mechanically, the engine remains largely stock aside from a Saleen supercharger, boosting the 5.0-liter V8 to around 625 horsepower. Supporting upgrades include Saleen 3.73 gears and upgraded 14-inch brakes. Inside, only part of the factory dashboard remains, along with the Shaker audio system. Sections of the passenger-side dash and airbag area were removed to make space for electronics used in production.
The cabin is fitted with Corbeau racing seats and multi-point harnesses, while a custom roll cage adds safety for crew members. The rear glass hatch features multiple mounting points for camera rigs, making it a true professional-grade filming platform.
Despite its striking looks and stripped-down nature, the Mustang retains several warning lights due to its modifications, including tire, airbag, and sensor alerts. The seller is asking $39,900, and it’s clearly a niche vehicle built for a very specific buyer—someone who needs a ready-made action camera car rather than a standard street Mustang.
