Ford has officially revealed the updated 2013 Mustang lineup ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, introducing fresh styling, upgraded technology, and performance improvements across the range.
The exterior receives a sharper and more aggressive appearance thanks to a redesigned front bumper, larger lower air intakes, and a new front splitter. GT models also gain functional hood vents to help improve engine cooling, while HID headlights now come standard on every model. At the rear, revised taillights are connected by a gloss-black panel, giving the car a more modern and muscular look.
Ford also added several visual upgrades, including newly designed alloy wheel options and fresh paint colors such as Deep Impact Blue and the bold Gotta Have It Green. One of the most unique additions is a new mirror-mounted projection system that shines the iconic Mustang pony logo onto the pavement whenever the car is unlocked.
Inside the cabin, the 2013 Mustang introduces more driver-focused technology. A new Track Apps feature integrated into the 4.2-inch display provides performance information such as acceleration times and braking data. Recaro sport seats are now available on both V6 and GT models, expanding a feature that was previously limited to higher-performance trims.
Performance has also been improved. The 5.0-liter V8 engine in the Mustang GT now produces 420 horsepower, giving the legendary pony car an extra boost over the previous model year. Buyers can also equip the GT with a new Track Pack that includes Brembo brakes and the Torsen differential borrowed from the Boss 302.
Ford didn’t forget about the hardcore enthusiasts either. The Boss 302 receives its own styling enhancements inspired by the classic 1970 model, including retro-inspired “hockey stick” graphics and a new School Bus Yellow paint option. Functional cooling upgrades have also been added, with removable fog lamp covers designed to improve airflow during track driving.
The refreshed 2013 Mustang lineup is expected to arrive in U.S. dealerships early next year. While Ford has yet to announce official availability for the UK market, enthusiasts overseas will likely continue relying on specialist importers to get behind the wheel of the latest Mustang.
