2013 Ford Mustang Track Apps System Brings Real-Time Performance Data to Drivers

The 2013 Ford Mustang is embracing advanced performance technology with the introduction of Track Apps, a new driver-focused system designed to make the driving experience more interactive and engaging.

Inspired by the growing trend of performance telemetry seen in cars like the Nissan GT-R, Ford’s new setup uses a 4.2-inch LCD display to provide real-time vehicle performance data directly to the driver. The system gathers information from the Mustang’s onboard sensors and presents it through a variety of performance-oriented readouts and timers.

With Track Apps, drivers can record acceleration times such as 0-30 mph, 0-60 mph, and 0-100 mph, while also monitoring cornering g-forces. The system even includes a drag-racing launch feature complete with a “Christmas tree” starting light sequence for a more authentic strip-style experience. Braking performance can also be measured, giving drivers a better understanding of how the car performs under hard driving conditions.

Beyond live data tracking, the system stores performance statistics so drivers can review and compare their best results later. While Track Apps is aimed at enthusiasts, the LCD screen also handles everyday information like fuel economy, trip details, and general vehicle data, making it practical for daily use as well.

Ford describes the feature as a way to put more performance information directly into the driver’s hands, giving Mustang owners a deeper connection to the car every time they get behind the wheel.
