For the 2013 model year, Ford introduced a series of upgrades across the Mustang lineup. While high-performance variants like the Boss 302 and Shelby GT500 grabbed headlines, the standard V6 and GT models also received meaningful improvements.
On the outside, the Mustang gets a refreshed and more aggressive look. Updates include a redesigned front grille, a more pronounced front splitter, and functional heat extractors on GT models. Body-colored rocker panels replace the previous darker trim for a cleaner appearance, while HID headlights are now standard across the range. Buyers can also choose from new wheel designs ranging from 16 to 19 inches.
Additional exterior enhancements include updated side mirrors that project the Mustang pony logo onto the ground when unlocking the car, as well as redesigned LED taillights connected by a glossy black panel. New paint options such as Deep Impact Blue and Gotta Have It Green add even more personality.
Under the hood, the Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter V8 sees a power increase to 420 horsepower. Performance enthusiasts can also opt for the GT Track Package, available on manual models with a 3.73 rear axle. This package includes Brembo brakes, a Torsen limited-slip differential borrowed from the Boss 302, and other performance-focused upgrades.
Inside, the Mustang benefits from new technology features, including Track Apps, which allow drivers to measure performance data like acceleration times and g-forces.
The refreshed 2013 Mustang lineup made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, with sales beginning in early 2012.
